With years and years of your urging, at the more mature age of 56, I finally opened our well worn volumes of The Lord of the Rings . I too was impatient with the walking and talking, the hard to pronouce names and places. I persevered through all three parts of the trilogy, complaining bitterly along the way. But, having reached the end where good conquers evil and love dominates hate I am glad for the experience. The darkness of Mordor was destroyed in a firey end and the opportunity for peace was born in Middle Earth. This Advent season I hold this hope for our Earth - that the Light of Christ, will be given a new opportunity to shine, to illuminate the path of humankind so each of us will walk the journey we are meant to walk in the drama of our on-going creation.
